It's #truthbomb #Monday!
And today's Truthbomb is this one: "#Passion over #perfection."
Hi. I'm Catherine, and I'm a recovering #perfectionist.
And this is one piece of advice that makes me cringe.
Except that it's true. One of the best lessons I learnt from my other half is that #goodenough
really is...good enough. The job will get done, which is better than agonising over the finest details and methods to get it done long past its due date.
Where did your perfectionism develop? What are you scared of?
I can only speak for myself on this one: mine developed because to not do it perfectly meant I wasn't a #goodgirl,
and since only Good Girls got #love
and attention in my world, not being perfect meant I'd be left on the shelf. Aka. a fear of loss of love.
Yet, here's the irony: perfection is imperfect. The perfect art leaves you feeling cold. The perfect person feels distant, like an abstract from a dream.
We fall in love with each others' imperfections because they make us feel something. So, you might as well be enthusiastic and passionate about your imperfections. After all, you're good enough, you'll get it done, and if you do it with passion? You'll feel damn good about it, instead of white-knuckling to the perfect ending and feeling the boring anti-climax.
